| Absolute Poker News |
11/07/06 |
Absolute poker has changed its sign up process. New players now need to use the Absolute Poker Referral code when they sign up or the Absolute Poker Bonus Code when they make their first deposit. Using both will give them the current promotion.
There is also news that they are in the process with buying or merging with the Ultimate bet software. This would be great news for both sites. It would expand their current database by double. With the loss of party which in the past had thousands of games to select from, players are looking for somewhere new to get the same feeling. Sites that only allow you to chose from two games are not all that appealing, especially if you get a bad run of cards and cant change your seat.
Now with the Absolute Code Poker Referral players are still able to get up to $750 bonus dollars for free. If you have not played there before they have great software, some of the best bonuses, the most reloads, and with plans to become one of the largest poker rooms online. You can read the complete Review of Absolute Poker for more details |

| Don't Quit Your Day Job! |
9/28/06 |
We have posted this in other sections of our site, but would like to stress it again. Poker is a Hobby/Game/Second income. It should never be considered a long term job. Any smart person should always look for putting themselves into a career that has opportunities to move up in life. The poker life hit’s a salary cap very quickly, unless you are one of the extremely lucky people to hit the WSOP lottery.
Poker can be a great income that is very flexible and only requires a few hours a week. While you are earning money playing at the tables you should be using the extra time in your life to better your self in some way. Going to school for a better job or find ways for your money to make you more money. If there is one thing poker should teach you about life, that is that you should think about not only your current play, but how to make the most money in the long run.
People with the safety net of a real job are happier players and usually have better control of their emotions while playing. That’s because they never need to play to pay the bills. They day you realize you need to play to pay the mortgage next month, that’s the day that poker becomes a job. It is no longer a choice, it becomes miserable work.
Poker players with out jobs can become the victim of other problems in life. They have a difficult time establishing an income when looking to make large purchases (home). They live a life that is much different hours of the rest of the world. You get up late, go to bed late, or with online poker never come out of your house. Once poker becomes your only focus of life it becomes very difficult to go back to a real job. Not only would the life adjustment be difficult, but many employers are not willing to take the risk on a person who is unproven in the workforce.
We believe poker is a great job to have. After watching many other players rise and fall you always want to leave your self some outs. Never get caught all in in life with no money , no outs, and no way to pay the rent. |

| Join The Poker Players Alliance |
8/7/06 |
The Poker Players Alliance is a non-profit organization that is trying to fight the good fight. Since nobody wants to be the one to stick their heads out and fight the poker ban in washington, the PPA is doing it for us. Its simple to join, and they are using the money to lobby congress to regulate poker instead of passing new laws that would make it illegal to transfer money to any online gamming site.
If you don't think they will ever ban internet poker, well then you need to read about what is going on in the House of Representatives. They just passed legislation that would prohibit americans from playing. Although it is far from becoming a law it is scary to think that they would try to stop what millions of people love to play. What many people don't know is that brick and mortar casinos are quietly spending millions to put a stop to gambling online. They hope the sudden shut down would create a flood of traffic into their doors and pockets.
To become a member they do ask for a small donation which you can choose the amount. After the registration you will receive a welcome packet that will allow you to show that you support online poker. The only other request they have is that at certain times when there is about to be a vote on an issue they will ask you to email or mail a letter to local government in support of keeping poker legal. Although this part is optional is is the most effective way to show your support. Its one thing for the Alliance to say they have a million members, its another thing for an elected official to receive a millions letters from people who put them in office.

| Pokershare Mocks WSOP And Players Around The World |
7/26/06, 2006 |
Bonuskey.net first heard about this story a few days back about someone trying to enter a monkey into the wsop and thought it was a little crazy and probably not allowed. But from the amount of publicity on tv and press releases it looks like they are going through with it. We also believe that any press is good press so we would ask that you not visit their site or you will be rewarding their insults with new traffic. We personally found no good reason to go there anyway. We will also limit the number of times we say their name.
Ok, lets first get past the fact that anyone who does not care that much about the seriousness of poker, will think that this is funny. That's fine our first thought was that it was funny as well. However we don't think an event like the WORLD SERIES OF POKER, that costs $10,000 to get in, should be funny at all. After all you don't see a monkey playing in the world cup or US OPEN just because it would be funny. We think that it should be a match of some of the best players in the world battling for several days until only one winner is playing.
Now we went to their press release web site and the title of the page is "Chimp vs. Chump" Now i am personally use to other players calling me names so that is not a problem, but they explain them selves by saying " we believe that any chump can win the main event, even our chimp!". Basically they seem to have the point of view that poker has no skill and everyone who plays is a chump. Now I'm not sure about everyone else but when I choose a poker site to play on I want them to have an understanding of what I am doing, so that they can maximize my playing experience. That's why sites that are run by professional players are usually the best software. It seems to me that nobody in the organization has any respect or knowledge for the game.
They are not only mocking the game itself but actually destroying the table the monkey plays. They have stated that basically the only move the monkey has is to go all in. Players would then need to make a decision on what their motives are for the all-in bet. The problem with the monkey is its not playing for anything of value. Maybe if the chips were made of candy the monkey wouldn't bet them so easily and you could get a "read" off that. There is a reason people don't just play poker for fun, that is because the rules of the game rely on risking something of value, no matter how small. Without value the game is just like flipping a coin, luck.
I would feel really bad for anyone who is sitting at the table with the monkey, because it will strip the skill factor from the game. As long as the monkey has cards you cant predict anyone's action. At any moment the monkey may go all in. Are you going to call their all in on the big blind of $20 when you have QQ? You are probably ahead, but you also probably have about a 20% chance of going home on that hand. This is where our largest protest comes in. They have promised to buy any player who is knocked out by the monkey into next years WSOP. I can see lots of problems coming from that. First off i would definitely call the above hand. If I ever lost a big hand and was almost out I would try to go all in against the monkey, knowing I get a free entry next year. None of this has anything to do with what people should be thinking about during the tournament.
I am not sure what rule it is but I know that you cant create a deal with other players that if they lose chips to you you will give them $10,000. I think that counts as collusion in my book. Any player who accepts that deal should be banned from next years tournament. The only requirement to this deal is that you "agree to wear a monkey outfit!" What is that, further insulting poker players around the world? Clearly nobody here has any idea of what players want.
The monkey's best chance for lasting is that he decides to throw his cards in the air on the first hand, thus giving him a time out. Other players would then be able to blind off his stack, creating other destabilizing factors at the table. A person or trainer cant sit behind the monkey and tell him what to do, so any hand motion or chip movement would have to go by the book, check, string bets, all ins along with out of turn betting. It would turn the table into a circus with little poker in between.
Now the rules do not state that players must be people we hope that the monkey can be banned from the casino for a few reasons. We would like to know how old the monkey is, if it is not 21 I am sure that they are not allowed to let the monkey gamble. They should also ask for proper documentation stating that they are 21, ie social security card, passport, birth certificate or drivers licence. If they can not present any of these the monkey should not be able to play.
When asked to respond to players taking this marketing plan as an insult they said, " It is not our intention to make a mockery of the game or gain cheap publicity. We have been seriously training this chimp to play since some time now and we wanted to add some fun to release pressure and make the entire event more lively and fun. We have received enormous positive feedback from players who love the idea. " We would like to believe them but are they really trying to say that they are paying the $10,000 entry fee because they think the monkey can win? Or because they are kind hearted people and want to entertain other players at the table?
Our goal here at bonuskey.net is not to stop poker players from having fun while playing, but to have your fun somewhere else. The WSOP is a serious event, your home poker game is just for fun. Now we understand some people play for their own enjoyment but the monkey is clearly there to get on tv wearing a shirt advertising the sponsor.

| Is Poker Really a Sport? |
7/19/06 |
I was reading an article about poker and the author is clearly upset that poker has been called a sport. But after all we often watch the action on tv broadcast by some of the most popular Sports channels. But does that really make it a sport? I think back to my earlier poker years and can't ever remember poker being called a sport, although I am not sure anyone ever really cared either way then. So did something change in the game of poker to make it a sport? Was it always a sport?? Or did Sports networks just decide to call it a sport so that they could dip into the millions associated with advertisements during the events?
I guess the first thing we should do is figure out what a sport is: Thanks to www.wikipedia.com:
" A sport consists of a physical and mentally competitive activity carried out with a recreational purpose for competition, for self-enjoyment, to attain excellence, for the development of a skill, or some combination of these. A sport has physical activity, competition, self-motivation and a scoring system. The difference of purpose is what characterises sport, combined with the notion of individual (or team) skill or prowess."
Now my first reaction to this challenge was that there is no way that poker is a sport. However after reading the definition I believe that it meets all parts of this definition. I am sure that there would be very little argument saying that poker meets the competitive, Self-enjoyment and skill parts of this. It seems that most of the discussion is about the Physical part of sports. Now many years ago the WSOP was played with only 20 of the top players from around the world, but now there are thousands of people playing. These events take up to 5 days of play to complete. I am not sure I know of to many activities or sports that require you to be alert of all your surroundings for five days straight. The mental and yes physical strain on players have spawned new businesses like at the table massages. Anyone who says you are not physically exhausted after one of these events has most likely not played in one, or at least not for very long.
I am not really sure if we could ever find out who was the first one to call poker a sport, or if the 12oz strains of a basement home poker game would really be enough to call it a sport. But, for the big tournament pro, poker is every bit a sport. Maybe one of the best sports, because anyone can play, and people are indiscriminately paid on their performance of that day. |
| Youngest Player Ever To Win WSOP Event |
7/17/06 |
A 21 year old college student, Jeff Madsen, wins $661,000 in the World Series Of Poker. After a third place finish in the $2,000 Omaha High-Low 8 and a prize of $97,552, Jeff topped his accomplishment with a first place finish in the $2,000 No Limit Hold'em event eleven days later. A total prize pool of almost $3 Million and 1,579 entries, Madsen's share was $660,948 along with the all important WSOP bracelet and the instant fame in the poker world that comes with it.
Many other vegas winners are often faced with the skepticism of being just another lucky player, Jeff is earning credibility with strong finishes in two events and two different types of poker games. At such a young age, the name Jeff Madsen will likely be one to read about in the future.

| World Poker News |
7/13/06 |
In Washington the House passed legislation making it illegal for banks to transfer money to online gambling web sites. This would effectively make it illegal to gamble online in the United States. The legislation does however still allow for online horse betting and state run lotteries. The land slide victory was passed with a 317-93 victory. Before it can be written into law it must first pass the US Senate and the White House.
Many advocates of the gambling industry have been trying to get the government to regulate the industry like the U. K. instead of what they call prohibition. Some reports place up to 50% of all online betting originates in the United States. There are currently study's being done on the of the feasibility of online regulation. Some say that it can't be done, or that it would still act as illegal fronts for money laundering, financing drugs or terrorists. If regulations can be put into place companies like paradise poker have promised to move to states like North Dakota who tried to pass a bill that legalized online poker rooms ( The bill failed in March 2005). Some estimates show that taxes could generate up to 3 billion in revenue for the federal government.
The fear is that the unregulated online gambling is too accessible and to easy for problem gamblers to lose all their money and savings. The anonymity of online gambling makes it difficult to help those in need or regulate those who are not mature enough to responsibly gamble. It seems as though nobody can deny there is a problem with high school students losing their parents money online, but will the prohibition of online gambling really work? Or will people just find more illegal ways around the laws?

| Free Poker Money |
7/9/06 |
Free Poker Money is around but there is almost always a catch to get it. You need to figure that they are really not giving it away for fun, they want something for it. They are however more then happy to give players a little free poker money to try their site in hopes that they will play longer. They just want to make sure that you can play more.
The best way to get free money is to create new accounts at as many poker sites as possible. Make sure that you write down all your information because you will usually be asked for it again when you make your first cash out. Several sites often give players who have never played a hand a free five dollars, and requires them to buy in and play several hands before cashing out. However if you want to have a good chance at getting money you should buy in to the account and then 24 hours later cash out, if you don't want to play don't. The goal is to get your account listed as a real money account. That way their programs that give out the bonuses will see that you can buy in, and they are much more likely to give real players free money. Some sites are willing to give up to $200 for free to players, granted this was to a high limit, high volume player. The size of the free money is usually related to the average size of your play.
The reason for signing up for many different sites is that they usually only give free money to people when they have not played in a while. Creating a new account and moving on to the next site will start the clock, all sites are different so there is really no set time on when they hand out the cash.
Remember these are just some tips on how to possibly get some free money with out depositing. They will always require you to play raked hands to cash out. We hope this is helpful, and until they have bonus codes that give free money to anyone, this is the best information we have. |
| Why is Poker so Popular? |
7/8/06 |
There are lots of thoughts of why poker is so popular, we believe its popularity has come from a combination of three factors; timing, publicity, and the "American Dream". Ok maybe we should just say MONEY instead. The game of poker has always been popular especially during war times in the military, but what brought it to the main stream America could be connected to the movie "Rounders". In this movie one law student risks everything he has ever worked for and loses it all. The plot then is about the struggle to get back to the top, and when presented with the chance to risk it all again for a large reward, what do you do?
This is the fundamental of the phrase "American Dream". People working hard and struggling to improve their life being beaten many times, but through persistence, hard work and a little luck they end up getting rich. Now many people may say poker is not hard work, but if you play well at a high level it is very difficult to stay on top. You have to constantly be studying your game and others games to keep up with the ever changing strategies.
Now the movie rounders planted a seed in many young minds. All those kids who watched Matt Damon take down KGB dreamed of being able to do that. But they were all too young to play poker in a casino and so it remained a dream that passed on by with time and age. About 5 years later when all these kids started to turn 18 and 21, the legal age to gamble, they started to go to the casino and try this new and exciting game of Texas Hold'em. Some would win and some would lose, still nobody ever getting rich off their play. Then came the perfect timing, a guy by the name of Moneymaker wins the World Series Of Poker!! It was just like the movie, this guy had lost most of his money gambling and almost lost his wife because of it when he won. Now everyone wanted to play, and everyone believed that THEY would be the next Moneymaker.
Availability and Embarrassment were the only things that had kept people away in the past and the internet solved both. People could play anywhere at anytime. If they played bad or made a mistake nobody saw them to yell at them. In the safety of their own home they could learn how to play the game. The popularity exploded, poker rooms online and offline quickly increased the sizes of their card rooms, or created new ones. What use to be 4-10 table rooms now became hundreds, and they were filling up.
Hollywood jumped on the poker band wagon when they saw the discovery channel and the Learning channels poker shows skyrocketed in ratings. Not just numbers, but of the most popular demographic for advertising 18-25 year olds. Everyone wanted their own show on tv to sell space to advertisements. Now that poker was on all the time everyone knew how to play, and more and more information about the game was published. Now anyone who wants to play well can buy hundreds of books on every aspect of the game.
Money is one of the few concepts that are in all civilizations and time. In a perfect world it would be acquired with an equal amount of effort by all, instead everyone is always looking for a way to get the most for the least. So when you look back at why poker is so popular, it really is just Money. The movie was made because it was a story that would make a lot of money. People wanted to emulate the movie and have a chance to win a lot of money. MONEYmaker wins the WSOP showing everyone that "it can be done". Online poker rooms made a LOT of money because they reached the millions of people who wanted to play but, casinos were outlawed in their jurisdictions. Then TV's marketing greed continued the cycle showing new kids how to play poker and where to play online, while searching for the billions in advertisers money. Not that searching for that extra buck is wrong, we fight for it every day. With all this greed and cut throat tactics we really hope that there is some self imposed responsibility along the way. Otherwise there will not only be a lot of good people lost, but, a back lash that will destroy a game that we have learned to love to play.

| June Poker Site of the Month |
June, 2006 |
June's Poker room of the month is Hollywood Poker !!! We choose this site because it is not well known by many people, and it should be. They are apart of the OnGame network which supports every operating system; PC, Apple, Macintosh, Linux, even some cell phones can play here. Another great reason to try Hollywood poker is because of their HUGE sign up bonus. They offer five different types of bonuses to earn. Depending on the limits you like to play, you can pick the one that is easiest for you to collect. They start at 50% up to $50 and go up to 500% up to $1000. That's a lot of free money to earn.
Some other unique features of Hollywood are that it has celebrities playing in their tournaments. These are the real people and are more then happy to answer your questions, as long as you don't interrupt their play. To make it a little more difficult on them, anyone who knocks them out of a tournament wins a bounty prize. These are different for each tournament.
There is also a chat box in the lobby where all players can talk to each other and set up new games. Anyone can create a password protected table of their own if you feel the need to challenge someone or just want to play with your friends. You are also allowed to set up your own tournaments where you control all the rules. These are just some of the features they have that make their site more interesting.

| NETeller Deposit Method |
6/30/06 |
NETeller is an online E-wallet that allows players to buy into poker sites and make other payments online. They are one of the most popular and accepted at all casinos. There are often extra bonuses for using neteller when you deposit. They are extreamly safe and secure to use. Make sure you fill everything out correctly and dont try to create a second account. They have a lot of tracking methods that are set up to protect you but may also close your account if you try to bend the rules.
We have been using the neteller service for over 5 years now and have never had any complaints. Unless as we said before we tried to bend the rules and got caught. Other positives about their services is that they are not blocked like many credit cards. They have a debit card that you can sign up for and use at most ATM's. It will allow you to cash out from a card room and with in 10 min you can go down to the atm and withdraw your money. They do require a link to a bank checking account, and that may make many people nervous but they have protected the information well (so far).
If you are interested in opening an account you can go to or click on this link: www.NETeller.com |
| For the Good of the Game |

About 5 years ago while playing at the local casino card room, It was always a long wait to get a seat into one of the 2 maybe 3 Texas Hold'em games I wanted to play. Once in, you would always politely greet everyone at the table and post your blinds. People would strike up a conversation with others at the table and continue it even if they are in a hand together. Now although the conversation may be on a happy subject, the betting actions are right at their throat. After all the game, is just a game. If you take it personally YOUR game will suffer.
Now when playing in many casinos people seem to take every action so personally. If they are in a slump and getting bad cards they try to make everyone else at the table miserable. Name calling, swearing, even throwing cards at the dealer. One of the most disrespectful actions is to constantly flip your cards or ask for deck changes. These both hurt the game and slow it down, making it longer before you get a good hand. What they should be doing is trying to make the action go as quickly as possible. Not only would it help you but it would be good for the game.
Some people are in casinos to just have fun. They are the same people who lose thousands playing craps and blackjack. Well sometimes when the poker players are lucky, they take a shot at the poker tables. These players usually play almost every hand and laugh and have fun while they do it. Now these people see every river card, so they are going to put some really bad beats on players. What is crazy is when other players do anything other then laugh and have fun with them. A true professional player, playing against someone like this, should be an entertainer. The job of the amateur is to have fun, usually lose money, and the pro should do his best to make both happen. You want them to leave that poker room saying " that was the most fun I have had in a while" Even if (Especially if) they are on a hot streak. The worst thing in the world would be for them to leave with the money and lose it at the blackjack tables. So for the good of the game, if you are a winning player, make everyone around you happy. If you run out of people to play against, you will run out of money.

| Prediction |
6/7/06 |
We would like to predict that in the future full tilt poker will become one of the most popular poker sites online. They have the backing and star power of almost all the famous poker players. Every year at the WSOP you see more and more players with the full tilt shirts. On top of that they are building a strong player base from the ground up. They run several "learn from the pro's"© features that teach beginners how to play. The extra media attention along with making players comfortable at the site should pay off in the long run. If you have never played there the pro's (Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson, John Juanda, Jennifer Harman, Phil Gordon, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Clonie Gowen, Andy Bloch, Mike Matusow, and more) Well, they are required to play at the tables. You can see which tables they are at because they are different colors. That's kind of a nice feature that only fulltilt has.
So if you have never played at full tilt you should check it out. They offer one of the largest bonus codes for new players, as of today 100% up to $600. The game variety is also a good reason to play there. Many live games are changing to split games, where they play half hour of one game then switch to another. That way people have to be good at more then one game to win. Fulltiltpoker gives you the chance to learn and play games like Razz and stud 8 or better. They even have new tournaments called HORSE tournaments, where they play 10 min of each game and continue to rotate between ( Hold'em, omaha 8/better, razz, seven card stud, seven card stud 8/better.

| Best Poker Room |
6/4/06 |
Now this is a really difficult phrase to explain. There are so many different reasons people play, so what would be the best would be very different for each person. For instance if a person plays small games one table at a time, they can play almost anywhere. But if someone plays 4-6 tables at once at levels of 15-30 or higher, they are very limited in the sites they can play. So because of this we will try to include more categories of best card rooms later.
Today we are going to have to say that generally the best poker room online is party poker. The reason for this is no matter who you ask partypoker will always be in their top three. ( Unless they just lost a lot playing there ) They have thousands of games at every level of action. Texas hold'em, omaha, stud, No limit games, Pot limit games and limit games. Anything you want to play not only is there a game, but there are hundreds to choose from. The best part about this is if your playing in a game and for some reason you don't like the table you can just get up and switch games. ( Great for people who tilt ) During some peak hours they have more then 80,000 players playing at their tables.
Now as we said before there are many other factors that make a great site the top site, but when you average them all out party poker rates well for everything. If you are looking for more details about their site you can go to the party poker review. They have important information about the site along with bonus codes and reload codes.

| Bonuskey.Net Launches |
5/31/06 |
We would like to welcome you all to our first entry to Bonuskey.Net!! We would like to tell you a little about us. Bonuskey is run by professional poker players who love to play poker. We want to see the game continue to grow strong all around the world. You may ask why would we be helping others, the answer is that in the past we wouldn't. It is one of the top ten rules of poker, don't give lessons to people you play against. Well although we still do believe that, its just that there are so many people in the world playing poker now that the chances of us sitting at the same game are extremely slim.
So why are we doing this? Obviously to make money. We are paid by the advertising on the site and we charge by the number of people who visit our site. So our goal is to give you the viewer as much useful information possible so that you come back. ( We are always open to recommendations to this address, no spaces, request @ bonuskey.net) We use bonus codes for each site as we play so it is very easy to post them online for you. Also being a web site allows us to negotiate with the card rooms to get better bonus codes and special free rolls for players. In return we will often move them up on the list somewhere so they get a little more attention.
Please remember that the opinions of each site we rate are just that, opinions. You may have different ideas of what makes a good poker room and may not agree with ours. We have tried to list many different casinos and poker sites so that you can make your own comparisons.
We hope that we provide you with useful and profitable information while your here and when your not,
Good luck at the tables. "Play bad and get there" mes
