| Bodog Poker Review: Bo Dog Poker is a new poker room but they have been a well established casino for many years now. Located in Costa Rica they were established in 1995 and run on their own network. The software is audited by Kahnwake Gaming Commission which is the largest auditor of online card rooms. They support the average games like Limit Texas Holdem, Pot Limit Texas Hold’em, No Limit Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha H/L, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud H/L and unlike most other sites they also have 5 card stud.
The site was originally set up as a sports book and opened up a casino and then a poker room. Most of the players are there for sports betting or casino gambling and only play in the card room for fun. This makes for some really good games. But beware, others know this and you may occasionally find yourself on a table full of sharks.
Bodog Poker has a quick seat option so players can select the structure, game type and stakes quickly. They then put you on the waiting list for every matching game. There are real money games along with play for fun games that uses “play” chips with no value.
We reviewed Bodog’s bonus and at first we thought that it was not as good as other sites. The percentage is very small, only 10%, but there is no max. Other sites make you play a number of hands before you get your bonus, which can take a long time. In comparison, they give you the poker bonus instantly. You can even use it to place bets or play tournaments. As an on going marketing incentive players are given a 10% promotion on every deposit. There are some regulations on when you are allowed to cash out the promo bucks but they change all the time so you will need to review them on Bodog.com.
I like how when a player is in a hand their player info box is light up, when they fold they are dark so its easy to see who is in the game. Each player is allowed to create and upload a small image that they can place in their player box. The more information you get about other players the better, and its fun to upload your own.
The table window has three info windows on the right that display all the information you want easily. One window gives you info about all your percentages. The middle box is for chat, the other is for the dealer history. Having the second two split makes reading your chat or hand history much easier because you don’t need to scroll up between all the other hand stuff. The third window that gives you info about all your percentages includes hands won, showdowns won, flops seen and win % if flop seen. Players should keep track of the percentages when they are winning and when they are losing. After enough data the percentages can help you adjust your game when you are losing.
One limit to the site is players can only have three tables open at one time which for most people is more then enough. Each Texas Hold’em table is played as either 9 handed, 10 handed, 6 max or heads up games. Not all options are always available because there just may not be a full game at that limit. They are usually either 10 or 9 player games, not usually both.
The poker room has had very little success in the past. Recently Jamie Gold won the WSOP with all BoDog.com clothes on. Now the card room is quickly growing.
There are several sections that can all be accessed with one account; Bodog Poker, Bodog Casino, Bodog Sports Betting, Bodog Slots, Bodog Music and Bodog.net. They have made it their goal to meet all your online gambling needs. They even have fantasy sports that you can make more interesting by betting on your players each game.
